TAMPA, Fla.–(GLOBE NEWSWIRE)–June 24, 2010

Today, World Triathlon Corporation announces the addition of Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas to its worldwide Ironman Series. Taking place in The Woodlands, located just north of downtown Houston, the event is scheduled for May 21, 2011. The inaugural race will enhance the current Ironman calendar, which consists of 25 events around the world in locations such as Australia, China, Brazil and Germany.

“Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas will be a phenomenal race,” said Steve Meckfessel, Ironman’s Chief Operations Officer. “The community’s spirit, unique amenities and accessibility make The Woodlands a perfect destination for our athletes and spectators. We’re truly excited about adding this event to the 2011 Ironman schedule.”

An Ironman triathlon consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike and a 26.2-mile run, and athletes must complete the three disciplines in succession within a 17-hour time frame. Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas will offer 65 coveted slots to the 2011 Ford Ironman World Championship, taking place on Oct. 8 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Additionally, there will be a prize purse of $100,000 for distribution among the top professional male and female finishers.

“We are very pleased that World Triathlon Corporation has selected The Woodlands for its Ironman Texas event,” said Bruce Tough, Chairman of the Board of The Woodlands Township. “This world-class event garners major international exposure and is great for the recognition of The Woodlands.”

Nick Wolda, President of the Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau, added, “The Woodlands and South Montgomery County are quickly becoming household names in competitive sports events, from the world-class brand of Ironman to NCAA, college and high school championships. With people from all over the world living and visiting The Woodlands, Ironman Texas is a perfect match for our international community.”

Participants will begin with a swim in Lake Woodlands, entering the water at Northshore Park and finishing at Town Green Park, which will serve as the transition area. Athletes will then head out on the bike course that will take them west through The Woodlands before heading north to the scenic, rolling farmland of east Texas. The final portion of the race is a marathon course entirely within The Woodlands that concludes with a spectacular finish on Market Street.

“This event will showcase the huge variety of shopping, dining, entertainment and hospitality we have in The Woodlands, and will be very beneficial for the residents and businesses of The Woodlands,” said Nelda Luce Blair, Chairman of the Board, The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, the largest not-for-profit healthcare provider serving greater Houston, will serve as title sponsor of the event.

A longtime resident of The Woodlands, Steve Sanders, CEO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital, welcomed the announcement for multiple reasons.

“My pride that The Woodlands was selected for this race is matched only by my pride in Memorial Hermann’s outstanding sports medicine program. This is a win-win for our community and for Memorial Hermann.”

As a major player in the athletic arena, the Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Institute was actively looking to diversify its programs and outreach through a meaningful partnership. Therefore, aligning with the World Triathlon Corporation was ideal in that both organizations’ core values revolve around improving the health of the communities they serve and working with athletes to achieve their highest potential.

“With one of the country’s top institutes dedicated to sports medicine and human performance in the Texas Medical Center, more than two dozen sports medicine and rehabilitation locations across our service area, and an outstanding team of physicians associated with our sports medicine programs, Memorial Hermann is the leader in sports related medical services,” said Walt Lowe, M.D., medical director, Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Institute and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. “We share Ironman’s interest in helping athletes achieve their highest potential and look forward to working with them to do just that.”

Registration for the event opens on Friday, June 25, at noon CDT at www.ironmantexas.com. Additional course details will be finalized in the coming weeks and will be available on the Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas Web site. For athlete inquiries, please contact texas@ironman.com.
The 5th East Asian Games (EAG) in Hong Kong came to an emotional close tonight
(December 13), with an enthusiastic crowd cheering the star-studded finale at a
coliseum in this southern Chinese city.

The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government,
Mr Donald Tsang, declared the Games closed. This was followed by the handing
over of the EAG flag to Mr Wang Xingguo, Mayor of Tianjin, China. Tianjin will
host the 6th EAG in 2013.

The moving chorus of the 5th EAG theme song “You Are The Legend” filled the
coliseum. It was a fitting send-off for the elite athletes from nine countries
and regions who set the biggest ever EAG alight since the Games` spectacular
opening on December 5. Altogether 2,300 sportsmen and women competed in 22
sports in a spirit that combined friendship with sportsmanship. EAG records were
shattered and new stars were born.

Sports fans are left with vivid memories of the gold medal winning performances
of several world-class athletes. Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang and diver Guo
Jingjing, Korean taekwondo expert Cha Dongmin and Japanese swimmer Ryo
Tateishiwere among the star athletes who won the loudest applause.

On the medals table, China finished top with 232, followed by Japan 190 and
Korea 143. Host Hong Kong harvested 26 golds, 31 silver and 53 bronze, a record
haul since its first participation in the EAG in 1993. Other participants in the
EAG are DPR Korea; Macao, China; Mongolia; Chinese Taipei and Guam.

Pop stars from the region – Korea`s Chae Yeon, Japan’s Kousuke Atari, Richie Jen
from Chinese Taipei, China’s Dadawa and Hong Kong’s own Eason Chan – joined the
Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra to perform the EAG theme song at the closing
ceremony after performers from Tianjin gave a taste of what is to come in 2013.

Hong Kong spent six years preparing for the EAG – the largest international
multi-sport event ever held in the city, which only last year joined the ranks
of Olympic co-host cities by staging the equestrian events of the Beijing
Olympics. The annual Hong Kong Rugby Sevens and flagship marathon, squash,
badminton, volleyball, tennis, golf, cricket and dragon boat racing events have
all reinforced the city`s position as a major centre for sport in Asia.

To review some of the most dramatic moments of the EAG, visit
www.2009eastasiangames.hk. To revisit the EAG opening ceremony which took place
in Hong Kong`s world famous Victoria Harbour, please see the video attached.

         — Restructuring May Include Up to Four Percent in Workforce
Reductions

NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE) today announced the next stage of its category
business model execution, which includes the restructuring of its
business to further enhance its consumer focus and drive innovation more
quickly to market. This realignment will drive greater efficiencies
throughout the organization and may result in an overall reduction of up
to four percent of the company’s workforce. NIKE, Inc. employs nearly
35,000 people worldwide.

Two years ago NIKE, Inc. undertook a realignment of the Nike brand to
organize along key global sport categories. Today’s announcement is an
evolution of that strategy and would bring the company closer to
consumers, reduce management layers and leverage efficiencies to
increase speed-to-market advantages globally. As part of this effort,
the company will review its entire supply chain from the sourcing base
to the retail footprint to ensure it is in the best position to bring
elevated consumer experiences to market.

“The power of the Nike brand and the diversity of the Nike portfolio
continue to be a competitive strength,” said Mark Parker, President and
CEO of NIKE, Inc. “In light of the current economic climate, it is more
essential than ever to sharpen our focus on the consumer to maximize
opportunities for product innovation and brand management in the
marketplace. The decision to reduce our workforce is a difficult one,
but it will put our business in the strongest position possible to
continue to deliver long-term profitability and growth.”

The Company anticipates completing its review of its organization by the
end of the current fiscal year. The exact number, timing and location of
positions expected to be eliminated will not be known until the review
is completed and employee representative bodies have been consulted
within accordance with local legal requirements.
