Major Property Developer Urges Solar-Cell Subsidy
Property Perfect Plc (PF), one of Bangkok's leading Property Developers, has urged the government to subsidise solar cell materials for energy-saving homes.
"Energy-saving homes are a good idea to help the country reduce energy consumption but the development of such projects is limited because of high costs of specific construction materials," chief operating officer Teerachon Manomaiphibul said. (Report by Bangkok Post)
PF is hoping to install solar-cell light poles in its housing projects next year. The installation might add between 5,000 and 7,000 baht to each unit but it would reduce electricity consumption in the long run.
The company also plans to use the heat transfer system, which recycles the heat from the condensing units of air-conditioners for use by water heaters.
The system, which costs about 5,000 baht, requires a boiler and pipes linking an air-conditioning system with a water heater.
PF will test the energy-saving equipment on some units of its new townhouse projects, The Metro Park and a three-storey townhouse project. The projects are be situated in the Sathon-Ratchapruek area and the Pattanakarn area near the Airport Link.
"We will turn our weakness of having a large land bank into a strength. We will develop large plots into energy-saving projects with lakes and good project planning," he said.
PF reached a net profit of 420 million baht during the first half of the year, higher than what it made for the whole of 2007. The company is one of leading property developers, which together share 60% of the total market.
